ABB Foundry was a part of ABB that produces systems for melting metals, primarily for the foundry industry. The equipment is custom built and projects can last three to six months depending on complexity.
When Bob joined ABB they had PC networks in some departments, but there was no overall plan, coordination, or responsibility for the PC's. By linking all of the departments together under one responsible person, work flow and efficiencies improved.
One of his larger accomplishments in improving the sales process was the development and successful deployment a Customer database on Lotus Notes. This database centralized all aspects of maintaining and servicing customers. It included sales reports, quotation requests, service reports, and a listing of equipment installed at different customers.
ABB Foundry was later sold and is currently run as ABP.
